COVID 19 AND THE SCHOOL EDUCATION 2020-2021.
It was Second week of March 2020 All Educational Institutions were abruptly closed due to the mighty power of a tiny virus. The whole world came to a standstill. There is no area / field which is not affected by this virus.
Suddenly Teachers prepared themselves for a change in the method of teaching. Students were helped by parents for transforming them to become digital students. But how long this virtual classes will continue. To some extent students of senior classes may digest. But Primary and Pre Primary will be adversely effected.
Government is planning for partial reopening of schools. But it has its problems. The pandemic is catching up. For all of us Health is most important. “Health is Wealth" This wealth will bring all other wealth.
Let us not take a hasty decision. No parent will send their children to school unless strong preventive measures are taken, vaccine is made available. Higher classes especially students appearing for Board examination should continue with online classes Other classes also, where ever possible, online classes should be encouraged. Never think of Zero Academic year. Students of all other classes should be promoted to next higher classes. When situation becomes normal, reduce the number of holidays and cover up the missed syllabus.
Suggestions in nutshell:-
1) Students appearing for Board Examination will attend online classes and teachers will complete the syllabus. For Practical examination, students may be allowed to come to school in small batches with the permission of parents. Required consideration to be extended in Public Examinations.
2) Other classes, (middle sections) let the online continue in a phased manner. All students should be granted promotion.
3) Primary and Pre Primary students should get advantage of moving to next class.
4) When situation becomes normal, reduce holidays and concentrate on syllabus which is left out and compensate.
